under acknowledgment it is stated that according to my despatch No.282 of 10th Oct. last the limit in the Hongkong & Shanghai Bank of the other Bankers was fixed at $125,000 while the Bank of the other ...nks was allowed to have custody of $75,000 in ordinary deposits, and $35,000 of the Praia Fund, $150,000 in all; but you will find on further reference to my despatch that the intention was that the Bank of those Bankers should merely have $75,000 small, with the amount ($125,000) in the H[ong]K[ong] Bank, to make up the total authorized limit of $200,000, and that the amount of $75,000 was to be either in ordinary balances, or Praia Fund money.
4. I have now to instruct you to carry out the directions given in my despatch of 10th Oct. last as soon as possible, giving the C.Agents such instructions as may be necessary in time, to prevent the authorized limit being exceeded.
